About reservation and use

What should I note when reserving?

We kindly request that the driver’s name match the applicant’s name to ensure smooth processing of your reservation. If they differ, please understand that we cannot honor the reservation.

Can I rent without a prior reservation?

While we welcome your visit, car availability on demand can be limited. We highly recommend securing your reservation in advance to guarantee the car of your choice.

If I drive to your shop to pick up the rental car, is there a parking space available for my car?

Yes, we are pleased to offer parking facilities. To assist you better, please inform us of the type and size of your vehicle before your arrival.

What documents should I prepare?

We kindly ask you to prepare your passport and International Driving Permit. For those with a license from Switzerland, Slovenia, Germany, France, Belgium, Monaco, or Taiwan, please carry a Japanese translation of your license, valid for driving up to one year from your date of entry into Japan. We are at your service if you need assistance with translations, embassies, consulates, or the JAF.

Are there mileage limits?

Please enjoy the freedom of unlimited mileage with our rentals, allowing you to explore to your heart’s content without concern.

What if I’m late for pickup or return?

Should you expect to be delayed by more than 60 minutes, we kindly ask for prompt communication. Without notification, we may need to apply a cancellation fee. If your flight is delayed, please provide us with your updated itinerary before boarding so we can adjust accordingly.

Can I extend the rental period?

Extensions are subject to vehicle availability. Please contact us directly if you want to extend your rental time.

Can I pick up or return the car outside of business hours?

Our operating hours are from 8:00 to 20:00. For assistance outside these hours, we invite you to contact us to discuss your needs.

Do the cars come with ETC and GPS?

Yes, all our vehicles are equipped with ETC and GPS systems for your convenience. Please ensure you have a valid ETC card for use during your rental.

What if the car I booked isn’t available?

We endeavor to provide the vehicle you have booked. However, we may offer a suitable alternative in rare cases of accidental damage or mechanical trouble.

Do you offer non-smoking cars?

We take pride in offering a non-smoking fleet for the comfort and health of all our guests.

Can I choose different pickup and return locations?

Within Naha City, we offer flexible, free-of-charge pickup and return services between 10:00-18:00. Unreported car drop-offs incur a fee of 200% of the operational loss.

Is an international driver’s license accepted?

Absolutely, your international license is valid. Please accompany it with your passport and, if necessary, a Japanese translation, valid for one year after you enter Japan.

Can I rent child or junior seats?

Yes, for the safety of your little ones, we offer child and booster seats for a nominal fee of JP¥500 per day, tax not included.

May I bring my pet in the rental car?

We apologize, but pets are not permitted within the vehicles to ensure a hypoallergenic and clean environment for all clients.

Can foreigners rent cars?

Certainly, we welcome international guests. Please ensure you have your passport and an International Driving Permit with a Japanese translation ready.

What about rentals for new drivers?

We appreciate the enthusiasm of new drivers; however, for safety and insurance reasons, we cannot rent vehicles to those with less than one year of driving experience.

About Charges and Payment

When is payment required?

Following your booking confirmation, our team will email you a secure payment link. Payments can be conveniently made using your credit card. We will settle the charges upon vehicle return for any additional fees due to rental extensions or repairs beyond insurance coverage.

Is insurance included in the rental fee?

Yes, you can choose from the Standard Plan, which does not include insurance, or the All-Inclusive Plan, which offers full coverage insurance plus gasoline. We encourage you to select the plan that best suits your needs and assures you peace of mind during your travels.

About NOC (Non-Operation Charge) – Equivalent to Loss-of-Use Charge If a vehicle requires repair or cleaning due to a traffic accident, theft, breakdown, defacement, or other causes not attributable to West Coast Rental-Car, the customer may be charged an NOC as part of the compensation for loss of use during the repair or cleaning of the vehicle. These amounts are fixed regardless of the degree of damage or the time required for such repair or cleaning.
If the vehicle can return to the shop by driving: JPY50,000~
If the vehicle cannot return to the shop by driving: JPY100,000~

About canceling a reservation & cancellation fee

■About cancellation fee

Charges of cancellation by customers.

  • Up to 7 days prior to the date of rental: No charges
  • Up to 3~6 days prior to the date of rental: 20% of the basic rates
  • Up to 1~2 days prior to the date of rental: 50% of the basic rates
  • On the day of rental: 100% of the basic rate

※In the event of inclement weather, we will not charge any cancellation fees. Please contact us as soon as possible. West Coast reserves the right to alter or terminate the Promotion and amend the terms and conditions at any time without notice. In case of disputes, the decision of West Coast merchants shall be final If there is any inconsistency or conflict between the English and the Japanese versions, the Japanese version shall prevail.

Are there any indemnifications not included in the All-Inclusive Plan.

As for the first accident during the rental period, it includes an exemption from responsibility so that no additional costs will be incurred. We will also prepare an alternative vehicle for the customer. However, we will stop lending the car for the second accident during the same rental period, and the rental fee will not be refunded. Also, the customer will be charged an additional JPY100,000 for damage.
